架け橋:メイン写真There should never be any difference in people's accessibility to information that can save their lives. I visited the Miyagi area eleven days after the Great East Japan Earthquake disaster happened, and filmed over a period of two years and four months.
This is a documentary that tells the story of the situation of deaf people in that area, information that did not appear on regular television news programs or in daily newspapers.

Director's Bio/Filmography Born in Nagoya, Japan. President of Studio AYA.
Graduated from Toyohashi school for the deaf and Aichi University of Education. She also studied film industry, American sign language and deaf culture at California State University Northridge, while attending Aichi University.
Her feature documentary "Coffee to enpitsu" (Coffee and Pencil) (2011) has been shown at Japanese theaters nationwide. She did research about the experience of the deaf people who were affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake for two years and four months, which resulted in her acclaimed documentary "The Connecting Bridge" (2013). Her filmography also includes bicycle road movie "Start Line" (2016, YIDFF2017 YIDFF Network Special Screening) and educational video about the deaf LGBT people, "11 sai no kimie - iron'na katachino suki" (2018, MEXT- Selected Film).
