Japan/61min./2012

I am Miho Horiike, 18 years old.

What I am able to do right now… I worried and thought about this, and after reflecting on myself I took action.

I knew about the tragedies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki from over a half century ago, where atomic bombs were dropped for the first time in the history of man.

I met a woman who was an atomic bomb victim in Hiroshima, a city that has experienced first-hand the horror of atomic bombing. Through this encounter with her, I conceived the idea to attend the Peace Memorial Ceremony with one thousand origami cranes (Senbazuru) on August 6th.
I called strangers and asked them to pray.

Then, the Great East Japan earthquake occurred on March 11th, 2011.

I visited the scene with a digital camera. I met a woman, who was a disaster victim in Tagajo (Miyagi), a city that was hit badly by the earthquake.

I didn't intend to make a documentary at first, but I desperately tried to capture the truth that appeared in front of my eyes.

Then, I compiled the videos into one complete project. This is a documentary of the days when my eighteen-year-old self ran forward restlessly.
