image002Hatakeyama Naoya’s mother was living in his childhood home in Rikuzentakata, Iwate Prefecture when she lost her life in the March 2011 tsunami. Ever since then he has frequently visited the town to take pictures. This is Rikuzentakata seen through the eyes of someone not only known worldwide for his photographs of mines and urban underground spaces, but also a native of the town.

Director's Bio/Filmography Born 1972 in Yokohama, Japan. Hatakeyama Yohei graduated from a film school and worked as assistant director for commercial companies, while making his own films. At the age of 27, he joined the Film School of Tokyo and studied filmmaking under the supervision of Sato Makoto at his documentary filming course. He worked as assistant director for Sato's Making Film of “What Is a Film Director?”. Hatakeyama made his directorial debut with “Junichi Ushiyama: Our Wonderful Television” in 2011. He then worked for video presentation of the Japanese Pavilion "Architecture. Possible here? Home-for-all" at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2012 as cinematographer and editor.
This film is his second work.
